About Lorie Fossa

Lorie Fossa ARTIST STATEMENT:

As an artist, my passion lies in creating whimsical images in traditional watercolor, acrylic, graphite, and charcoal pencil. Having owned a professional graphic arts agency, my artistic reach has extended into the digital world and allowed me to employ a diverse spectrum of seeming incompatible mixed mediums. My artwork reflects unconscious images that add depth and meaning to my artistic creations. Since dance, cirque arts, and fashion are among my favorite forms of art, I often focus on images that reflect the fantasy and imagination of the characters I portray. Inviting my viewers to make a connection between my story and their own brings me a rich and unending sense of joy and career satisfaction.

BIO:

Born in Chicago, Illinois, Lorie discovered her passion for art at a very young age. Her unique style and attention to detail have afforded a unique perspective that is reflective of her love for nature and fashion. Specializing in creating illustrations and subliminal images that have captivated her audience, Lorie's art is interwoven with her thoughtful storytelling and subtle imagery. The longer one lingers with her drawings, the more imagery and meaning becomes manifest.

Having completed numerous digital courses in Painter, Illustrator, and Photoshop, and studied under a number of traditional technique artists, Lorie has spent 19 years as a professional artist. Well-practiced in a diversity of mixed mediums, she has showcased and extended her talent in painting and drawing to the multi-faceted digital/commercial art and design arenas. Invited by The People's Princess Charity Foundation and Dresses for Humanity, Lorie was invited to create a series of limited-edition paintings of Princess Diana. Drawing inspiration from self-taught couturier, Catherine Walker, who as Princess Diana's favorite designer, created 42 of the 79 dresses featured at the Christie's auction of Diana's dresses, Lorie has recreated some of the Princess' most memorable moments, and artfully captured Diana's style and charm.

Lorie is married and has three children, and now resides in Tarpon Springs, Florida.
